Purse Kits & How to hand sew a Purse Video

I've FINALLY got my Purse Kits ready! Cue fireworks, cart wheels and star jumps!
Yippeeeee!
There are 2 ready to go at the moment and I've another design in the making...  so it gives me great pleasure to introduce my "Sunburst and Stripes" Kit:

And my "Blue Blooms" Kit......

I really want to make these kits accessible to everyone..beginners and happy stitchers alike. So I made a video walking you through the purse making , step by step. The video has been split into 2 parts so if you just want to know how to hand sew a purse clasp on, then you can just watch the 2nd part.
I still have a LOT to improve on in the video making department...but I hope they provide the help needed. I do believe I made up a new word on one of the videos...but I'll wait and see if you notice :)

Part I

Part II

There has been a WHOLE lot of work behind the scenes here, getting these 2 little kits ready for the world. I can't tell you how wonderful it feels to be letting them go......I hope they fly :)xx

Tutorial - Embellish your clothes with Embroidery

I must confess to feeling a little bit of a fancy pants...I'm on a video roll!
Remember the video last week where I shared how to embroider a Rose...well this week I've created one showing you how you can use your embroidered pieces to spruce up your clothes...OR turn your stitchery work into a brooch.
There are so many other options available as to what you can do with this technique..... which fills me with delight, as there is only so much wall space in our homes for our embroidered pieces to go, or chairs to plump up with cushions! Its time to turn to our clothes...
I'm thinking snazzy patches (not just for my 6 year old who inevitably ends up with a hole in her knees!), or attach to those huge elastic hair bands you get...or some kind of funky cuff? See my brain is ticking over with ideas already!

a cute little rose brooch

Yes sometimes it does hurt to be so smug :)

You can check the video out below!
ps...I used the new video camera I got from my sweetest Stu for my bday. Not quite sure how to get rid of the black frame......it's still watchable though! And in "HD" too Stu proudly announced as I opened the pressie.... :)

Tutorial - How to Embroider a Vintage Style Rose

Ok...confession time...there is something about stitching vintage style roses I LOVE.
Yes, I love Satin stitch, yes I love choosing the colours, and yes I LOVE the kitschy outcome. Give me vintage stylee roses any day.

So on the off chance you too have a penchant for these little beauties I thought I'd create a video tutorial showing how to create one yourself.

There is no great mystery to embroidering these roses really, it's all created through simple Satin stitch. However some people do get tripped up by using the direction of the stitches to enhance the design, and navigating curves can also flummox the stitcher. If you watch the video you'll  find a few tips on how I work out the direction and keep myself right!

This video also films the full rose being stitched in roughly 4 mins as opposed to the 3+ hours it actually took (I was like a little kid at this part..modern technology is so clever ..and FUN!) So if you have no problems embroidering roses why not simply fast forward to 10 mins and  enjoy some speedy stitchery accompanied with the quirky sweet tunes of The Wiggly Tendrils.

Enjoy! x
